Are you overloaded with have to’s, must do’s, and gotta do’s with no sign in sight of it slowing down or ending anytime soon?
I have some tips for you to break free from overwhelm…
Let’s face it, we’ve all been there… crumbling under the cascade of things coming at your from all directions. Everyone needs a pice of you and your time. There is more to do then is humanely possible, but somehow you must get it all done.
o•ver•whelm; to load, heap, treat, or address with an overpowering or excessive amount of anything.
That includes the good stuff in life, too!
So much to do and so little time. You don’t feel like you have the time and or energy to “do” it all – rightfully so. On paper the equation does not balance. The overwhelm vortex is spinning and unconsciously you tend to look for things to add to your overgrown pile of stuff to do-do. The mind is ceaselessly busy, leaving you feeling pulled in many directions all at once. Essentially, you become fragmented, having left bits and pieces of yourself all over the place. This costs a lot of energetic currency. It’s like when your computer is running slow because you have too many programs running at one time. There is not enough free drive available to really focus on the task at hand. Argghhh!
Overwhelm robs us of our FREEDOM and leaves us feeling trapped.
Are you living in Do – Do land?
Last week I found myself smack dab in the middle of do-do land. I had so many wonderful things happening! Two trips almost back to back, amazing clients to serve, family, working out, details of running a business and a holiday. I know you know how it is with your own full life… especially this time of year. I started to spin off course. My tell tail signs are: being tired, working too late, my mind saying I had no time for meditation, wishing I had time to watch a movie and snuggle on the sofa, grocery shopping at 8pm, and cooking feels like the last thing on the planet I want to do (I like cooking!). I took a break and went for a long walk. I tuned into why I was doing everything I was doing and the why behind what I was resisting doing.
Insight: When you lose sight of WHY, you get stuck in HOW and WHEN. HOW and WHEN live in the ego part of the mind – Edging God Out. WHY lives in the heart field, where everything is possible.
It’s not that you’re in the wrong game. Your attention is in the wrong place. What you’re truly looking for is not actually the end result (although that can feel wonderful too), but the deep undeniable satisfaction you have along the way when you are truly aligned with purpose – WHY you do what you do.
Focusing on HOW and WHEN while trying to do-do everything, you run the risk of being out of alignment with what is right and true for you. You have to get to the “Why” in what you are doing. When you know why, you are connected with purpose. Purpose will keep you on track and simplify your choices. Knowing your purpose and living from the inside-out is so empowering because you become aligned with where you really want to be going instead of where you think you should be going. Great universal forces help life to reorganize with grace and ease.
The good news; there is a way out of do-do land. Freedom is an inside job.
There will always be stuff to do.
It’s your inner alignment that conquers overwhelm and delivers freedom.
Three steps to getting free from the grip of overwhelm:
1) Take a BREAK. I know, I know… how can you possible take a break when there is so much to do and so little time! You must so that you can get back to center, realign with the purpose of what you are trying to accomplish, and get your attention on what matters most.
: Sleep
: Meditate
: Go outside for a walk
2) Tell yourself the truth. Reconnect with the real purpose of what you are doing.
Start with this questions: What is the real purpose of what I am doing?
Ask yourself again and again until you get an answer that feels TRUE.
3) Get Help: When you are trying to do it alone you are playing small. The Universe, Spirit, God, and people are always available to help. Here is a great tool to help you clear your mind and elicit help beyond what you may believe is possible.
4) Surrender your to-do-do list process. In this video I show you how to actually get your to-do list done with grace and ease.
